My payment was rejected or came back

In shortA rejected payment didn't just stall, it got actively bounced, usually because a detail didn't match, the receiving bank couldn't take it, or a standard review stepped in. If money left your balance first, it comes back to your Ortix account. Message us and we'll find the actual reason.

A rejection is different from a delay. The payment didn't just take longer; it was sent back. The usual reasons:

  • A detail didn't match. One wrong digit in the account number, or a name that doesn't line up, and the receiving bank refuses it. Fix the detail, resend, done.
  • The receiving bank couldn't take it. Occasionally the other side rejects a payment for reasons on their end.
  • A standard review. Sometimes a payment can't complete as part of our standard review process. When that's the case, we'll say so.

If the money left your balance before the bounce, it comes back to your Ortix account, and we'll confirm the moment it's genuinely there. We're picky about that wording on purpose: "back in your Ortix balance" and "sent onward to your bank" are two different moments, and you'll always know which one you're at.

One label that can raise an eyebrow: returned money sometimes appears in your account marked as a refund. Same concept, different word. The payment didn't complete, and the funds came back to you. An unexpected refund entry shortly after you sent something is usually exactly this.
