Changing your email address

Changing your email address is a completely normal thing to do. It's also one of the most security-sensitive changes there is, because your email is part of how we recognize you. So two things are true at once: the change itself is easy, and the checking around it is deliberately thorough.

  • We verify you properly before anything changes.
  • We verify the new address is genuinely yours, with a confirmation code sent to it.
  • Your old address gets notified. And here's why that matters: if you ever receive that notice without having asked for a change, contact us immediately. That message exists precisely to catch a change you didn't make, while there's still time to stop it.

None of the thoroughness is suspicion of you. It's what stops this exact process from ever being used against you by someone else.
