Receiving money from abroad

In shortShare the account details in your app: your IBAN, or your account number plus BIC, whichever yours shows. A sender in another country should send it as an international payment, and a payment reference helps it match to you faster.

Receiving money is mostly about giving the sender the right details, and yours are sitting in the app: either an IBAN (one code that identifies your account) or an account number plus a BIC (two pieces doing the same job together). Both work equally well.

Two things keep incoming money smooth:

  • Senders abroad should send an international payment. Here's a fact about banking everywhere, not just Ortix: domestic payment systems don't cross borders. A local instant transfer inside one country simply can't reach an account in another one, at any bank. So if your sender is in a different country, they send an international payment to your IBAN or account number plus BIC, and it always can reach you.
  • Ask them to include a payment reference. That short note attached to a transfer helps the money match to your account fast. Without it the money isn't lost, but the matching can take longer.

If something someone sent hasn't shown up, start with them: which method did they use, and to which details exactly? Most of the time, the answer's right there.
